“No matter how old a woman becomes, no matter how many years pass, she has yet more ages, stages, and more ‘first times’ awaiting her.  That is what initiation is all about: it creates an archway which one prepares to pass through to a new manner of knowing and being.”

- Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Life Celebration

“Every moment is sacred.  Your life is a ceremony. Your life is a prayer. It only happens once.  You can try to recreate it, but it only happens once.”

- The Story Medicine

These words inspire my work as a Life Celebrant.  Creating ceremonies started as a creative way to unite the folks in my community around the cycles of the seasons and to celebrate the turning of the wheel.  It has evolved into an offering of guidance and through life’s rites of passage, including:

  • Birth

  • Menarche

  • Coming of Age

  • Acceptance of Self/Coming Out

  • Transition from Maiden to Mother, Mother to Crone

  • Marriage

  • Divorce/Dissolution of Relationship

  • Surgery

  • Moving to a New Home

  • Parent’s Blessing Ceremony

  • New Business

  • Menopause

  • Retirement

  • Death of a person, animal, or belief

I believe a ceremony consists of three main ideas and we can think of them as: “Past, Present, and Future”.

In the space of the Past, we are separating from the old way of being by stating the transition that is taking place and honoring its story.

In the Present, we experience fully being in, and being witnessed in the liminal “in-between” space as we stand at the threshold of a new beginning.

In the Future, we take the brave step into the next phase as a changed being, having shed the old identity and accepted a new one.

The reasons why people are interested in marking their major life events are varied and deep. In my opinion it comes down to the desire to be fully present in each moment of this precious life that we have been gifted and making that which is special in our hearts and minds visible to our friends, families, and ourselves.

Ceremonies are a way to heal from our inner wounds, to celebrate our accomplishments, and to join together in something greater than ourselves.

The process of holding a Ceremony is enlightening.  I start by sending a questionnaire to the client, which helps us co-curate the ideal event.  From there, we iron out details and consider the setting, participants, and symbols involved.

In addition to being a Ceremonialist, I’m also a Somatic Coach and I find it’s really helpful to invite the sensations that are present in your body and want to be noticed to have a place in a ceremony.

They could show up as a heaviness in the heart, or a rapid heartbeat, a cold feeling around the shoulders or tingling in the feet.  Our bodies hold memories and emotions, and resolving them is an integral part of moving forward.

With each Ceremony I provide:

  • One in-person meeting or virtual call with the client to understand the story and vision for the Ceremony.

  • One personalized digital invite to share with your guests

  • A guided Ceremony and activities.

  • Preparation of the space with agreed upon decorations or symbols on the appointed day.

  • A reiki-infused handmade candle to take home (option to add a candle for each guest).

  • Closing the circle by clearing and cleaning the space.

  • A follow up check-in that may precipitate ongoing support if needed.

Optional Add-ons:

  • Beginner’s Yoga Class

  • Oracle Card Readings

  • Signature Herbal Tea and/or Mocktail created specifically for your occasion

  • Charcuterie or Grazing Board

My Unique Offering of Ceremony Service

As your Ceremony Guide, I am dedicated to creating a smooth, joyful experience for you and your guests, as I pay close attention to your needs and preferences, and plan the event accordingly. I vow to provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive space for all of the guests, while orienting them to the deep meaning and purpose of the Ceremony.  I commit to planning for the activities, conducting them with the utmost reverence, and providing the necessary materials.

Having a guide for the Ceremony to hold space is ideal as it allows for you and your group of loved ones to relax and fully drop in to the experience of gathering in a sacred circle to hold, uplift, and celebrate you.

I believe that in the same way that the body holds organs, thoughts, and feelings; or that a house holds memories, goals, and experiences - that the circle of people in a ceremony creates a container to witness the transformation of a soul.  I think our world is in desperate need of rituals to remind us of our connections to each other, the Earth, and our Creator.

The intention of a ceremony is to shine a light on the person experiencing a life transition and hold them in love and support. This special event offers an opportunity for the person’s friends and family to play an intentional role of care and comfort in their journey by creating deeper bonds and building the confidence to lean on them when needed. Ceremonies can also be done with no guests, just you and me, acknowledging and honoring your experience in a sacred space.

To prepare for a ceremony, there are some topics I offer you to consider which include: setting an intention, choosing a location, selecting guests, and deciding which rituals to incorporate.

When we gather together to share life experiences and inner wisdom with a clear intention it creates a beautiful bond of community. Bringing the art of ceremony back into the light of common practice, we are reopening a chapter in our collective history to celebrate all the seasons of our life journey.

It would be an honor to walk with you on your path.
